What is gift aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme which allows you to increase your donation to our church by 25%
How does Gift Aid work?
Under the Gift Aid scheme our church can claim an extra 25% on your donation from the government so for every £1.00 that you donate our church will get £1.25 in total by claiming 25 pence from His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
Will it cost me more?
No our church will be able to claim an extra 25% on your donation at no extra cost to you.
Who is eligible to register their donations for Gift Aid?
You can register for Gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer.
How do I register for Gift Aid?
You can register for gift aid by completing a Gift Aid declaration form and by returning it to the parish office.
Do I need to complete a Gift aid declaration form each time I donate?
No, you only need to complete the form once. The form will then be used for all donations you make whether by envelope, standing order or direct debit
What information will I need to provide on the Gift aid declaration form?
You will need to provide:
. Your name
. Your address and post code; and
. Confirmation that you are a UK taxpayer.
What happens to the information that I provided my Gift aid declaration form?
Your information will be stored securely by the diocese and will not be shared with anyone else. HMRC has the right to review our records.
Is there anything that I need to be aware of?
Please advise us if your tax circumstances change, for example, if you cease to be a UK taxpayer or you significantly reduce the amount of tax you pay.
